The "Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis"

Old planes dont like concrete… that’s why grass airfields are the only place where you feel the particular atmosphere of the begininngs of flight. There you find  passionate people, like the pioneers were and most of all the passion of those beautiful old machines..

La Ferté-Alais is such a place.  As early as 1929 the late Jean-Baptiste Salis  created « Pilotes du Souvenir » (Flyers of remembrance) to preserve what was done in the early years of aviation. With the same goal in mind, « Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis » born in 1972 to succeed « L’amicale Aéronautique de Cerny » welcomes you on the airfield of La Cerny-Ferté-Alais.
These goals are :
- To preserve  vintage, classic airplanes and warbirds, keep’em flying and promote our aeronautical heritage .
- To restore and build historic aircaft and thand to others the know how of that art.
_To  help and promote flying by means of private support  and with government help.
_To establish a freindly relationship between pilots, mechanics and passionate members of our association.
_To keep alive the spirit imspired by the late Jean-Baptiste Salis.
Today Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis represents 300 members.  About 60 are intensely active during the week  and the week-end to keep our 30 historic aircraft flying  They do the same with aicrafts  owned by people invested  in  AJBS association..

The Flying Museum

In the Hangar Jean Salis of Cerny-La Ferté-Alais’s airfield, you find one of the finest collection of historic aircrafts. Aside AJBS’s airplanes are those of the Salis family, those of Memorial Flight  dedicated to the first world war and those of private ownership. In all this represents about 70 planes and covers tne beginning of powered flight to present days.
These airplane are presented as static but fly regularly when the weather permits on summer week-ends. You may see them too fly in various european airshows.

The AJBS Whitsun tide airshow « Once upon a time : the propellers »

Our Whitsun airshow goes back as far as 1970 and each year since, more and more people are attending this event.  Most of’em come here to see and photography rare historic airplanes gathering in Cerny-La ferté Alais from all over Europe.
Each year during the saturday and sunday just before Whitsun tide, the airfiled of Cerny-La Ferté-Alais is kind of a Mecca for the passionates of aeronautics. You see Those magnificent men in their flying machines , you smell the hot perfume of castor oil, you  are surronded by the roar of Rolls-Royce Merlins, Pratt & Whitney Double Wasps and even Daimler Benz engines. In the end of the day you listen to the précision aerobatics of Breitling Jet team, Patrouille de France or Red Arrows.
Each Whitsun tide airshow is a unique expérience calling to the old human dream to fly like the birds.

In all, the goals of Amicale Jean Baptiste Salis : to restore, to transmit, to keep flying, to share, are justified by preserving our flying héritage for the future generation.

 So come join us....................
